Sweet Love at Addison Grove

We love a styled shoot…even more so when it involves a sweet real couple and their little cherub!

We love a styled shoot here at Wed in The Wild…even more so when it involves a sweet-ass real couple and their little cherub! The inspiration behind this shoot was pulling in non-traditional wedding décor, like the wooden lanterns, minimally modern ceremony site and some fun extras.

Not only was the décor “untraditional”, so was the couple. The bride was pregnant with their second child for the shoot, and the couples little girl was also in attendance! Which makes for some ultra cuteness overload!

“In the words of Alex Moreau, our amazing coordinator that helped make this shoot possible, “this stunning one of a kind bohemian inspiration shoot in Dripping Springs will hit you right in the feels.” And I couldn’t agree more! This amazing inspiration shoot is filled with statement pieces. From the brass heron figurines to the vintage typewriter and cowhide textiles in the lounge, unique pieces are a hallmark of Alex’s design!” Nikk Nguyen, Photographer

What makes this shoot so unique is the “untraditional” aspects throughout which will really appeal to a vast audience; the bohemian lovers, the outside the box thinkers, the free spirits and those who want a day so unique that it cannot be recreated. Keeping the day personal is what this shoot was all about!

Real Wedding: Daryen & Markus

A super fun real wedding set in a ghost town, Wild West open air venue.

After a week long hiatus, following a major technical fault on Jenna’s laptop, we bringing gorgeous wedding inspiration back with this beautiful, super fun real wedding. Daryen & Markus were already legally married the day of their ceremony and party, but that didn’t stop the lovely couple from sharing their devotion and love for one another with their nearest and dearest.

Ross, the couples photographer, tells us more about this gorgeous couple in love…

“These two were actually already hitched before their wedding day. They wanted to buy a house and they had to be married, so they went to the courthouse to say their I-do’s. A few months later they finally got to have a beautiful rustic wedding with family and friends to witness and celebrate with them” Ross

Excited is an understatement when Daryen and Markus told Ross that they had decided on the ghost town in Searchlight, Nevada called Eldorado Canyon. It’s a playground for a photographer, with countless places to take epic photos. The day started off in the Golden Gate at Fremont Street in Downton Las Vegas, which was actually the first ever Las Vegas hotel. How cool is that?!

The bride made her bouquet from flowers at Hobby Lobby, and after the girls got ready they all headed to Nelson in a party bus for the wedding. The men got ready in the main building, putting on their suspenders and brushing their beards.

“Daryen hid behind one of the sheds while Markus headed to the big rustic barn for their first look. How sweet was his reaction?! The black box in his hand is his gift to his Daryen; a new gun with a love letter written on it. The ceremony took place amongst cactuses, followed by eating and drinking under the stars, a pyramid of Pink Box donuts, the removal of one curious rattle snake and dancing in the old barn” Ross

Daryen explained that her decor for the day utilised bohemian inspiration but also, a lot of personal touches. She has always been a big fan of old-school floral pattern, lace and the couple were lucky enough to have the perfect place to decorate for their first dance and dance floor.

Most of the deck decor was DIY, from the table lighting to the flower arrangements to the bridesmaids bouquets and the brides bouquet.

“It was our special day and we worked really well together making sure it was perfect for us.” Daryen

The couple chose laid back outfits, and we love the fact that Daryen didn’t care about her beautiful gown getting a little bit dirty in the mud…just shows that she embraced her day and had a good old time!

“I wanted something that would be elegant and classy, yet allow for a good body movement, and always having been a fan of classic lace my choice was easy. I also wanted something that would complement my skin tone, but conceal my tattoos a little bit, so I opted for a dress that had longer but see-through sleeves. The dress itself had a 12” train and was made by Wear Your Love XO. The flower crown was another personal touch of my own.” Daryen

Markus chose an ensemble which wouldn’t detract from Daryen’s dress but would be bold enough to stand out from the desert landscape.

When it comes to advice for couples arranging their wedding day, Daryen and Markus’s advice is simple…

“Don’t stress about it! You probably will anyways, I know I did, but it’s about being with the person across from you saying “I do” and not so much about the stuff you know your soon to be hubby is going to get wrong. Live it up, let loose, and have fun! You’ll only get to do it one time!” Daryen

Little Lost Cabin in The Woods

There are so many pretty tones in today’s shoot that we’re really gearing up for the warmer months…

There are so many pretty tones in today’s shoot that we’re really gearing up for the warmer months; pinks, lilacs, peaches and even golden tones. Hmm, yes…makes us feel all warm inside.

And the colourful flowers on the sumptuously decked out tablescape aren’t the only things brightening our mood…the ridiculously stunning dress, lacy and complete with gloriously oversized trumpet sleeves, will be sure to fill you all the way up…

Submitted by Elizabeth A Images, the elopement shoot took place in a secluded log cabin in the woods of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The models, real-life newlyweds, brought a sweet and genuine glow to the day…showing their complete and utterly lost for words love with the team around them.

Soft and warm shades of pink and mustard were the order of the day and the team fulfilled that brief. Flowers by Vintage Soul Floral Design incorporated roses, peonies and lush foliage. Flowers adorned not only the tablescape and the log cabin’s fireplace, but also the models hat in a unique and playful twist on the bridal fedora trend.

All details were paid attention too, from the abundant, graceful and flowing tablescape, to the flatlay for the unique and ingenious wooden stationery which was designed by the super creative Cut Above Stationery Team. We love the use of different wooden textures in the stationery, combined with a pressed fern motif.

And that macrame cake…sheer perfection by The Wow Factor Cakes.

The bridal models makeup was kept simple and natural with only a smattering of pink lipstick and a light dusting of peachy pink colour across her eyelids; working perfectly with both her skin tone and the colour palette for the day. The groom looked dapper in his quirky shirt and on-trend mustard chinos, complete with a wooden textured bolo tie.

We love this playful spin on an elopement shoot…set somewhere really secluded, and featuring all the playful colours of summer.

Literal hats off to a great, creative team!

Amber Tones on The Wild Coast

A gorgeous shoot taking inspiration from the cliffs of Ness Cove, Devon.

What a beaut shoot we have in store for you today, incorporating the creative talents of some literal behemoths of the UK wedding industry scene. And having followed the work of Devon-based Brummie, Nikki Sherriff (of styling and stationery powerhouse Knots & Kisses) for years now, we are so honoured that she chose to submit this perfectly curated, and unique session to Wed in The Wild.

Working with a gorgeous palette of tans, mustards and amber tones, juxtaposed with vibrant, luscious greens, this bridal inspiration is truly one of a kind; the coming together of exceptional creatives, masterminded by Nikki, and offering breathtaking results.

“Living in Devon gives you the wonderful opportunity to explore its gorgeous coastline. I wanted to explore shooting in some of Devon’s wonderful outdoor landscapes and to take advantage of the gorgeous red cliffs in coves along the coast between Exeter and Torquay. Ness Cove proved the perfect spot … despite the many steps up and down to the beach with all our props!” Nikki

The inspiration came from the red and burnt orange colours within the landscape itself; Nikki wanted to create a coastal shoot which wasn’t the typical blue and green colour palette, but instead took inspiration from the cliffs and the natural landscape. And boy did that come together…

We’re massive fans of Mia Sylvia’s work…and Nikki approached her to use dresses from her natural-dyed reclaimed collection. Tonally, they worked perfectly, and fit the colour palette to a tee. Nikki also chose to utilise dresses from Poppy Perspective; another independent designer who specialises in bohemian, free-flowing dresses.

“Using natural materials such as linens, weathered wood and feathers was really important” Nikki

We are also majorly swooning over the brown, tasseled jacket…

Florsits, Brompton Buds really went there with the floral arrangements…mixing wild foliage textures and gorgeous florals to create the most stunning asymmetric floral arrangements, which worked perfectly on the triangular ceremony backdrop frame which is now available to hire from Knots & Kisses. The bridal bouquet combined the same textures, and loose buds and foliage were used to adorn a beautiful ring flatlay.

“We wanted to show how amazing an outdoor wedding in the UK could be. Devon is an amazing location and has some wonderful settings for a Humanist ceremony or vow renewal especially … and there are some gorgeous hotels and accommodation close by to spend your first evening as a married couple.” Nikki

Indeed, photographer Maxi Photography captured the stunning dramatic skies and coastline showcasing just how amazing an outdoor wedding could be.

Are you gasping yet?

We did when we first saw the gallery…those feathers!

The look for the model, red haired of course to compliment the colour palette, was dramatic and bohemian. The team wanted to create a strong editorial look with dark eyes and make up, beautiful braids and incorporating the most stunning amber feather headdress created by the ever-talented Janie at The Lucky Sixpence. Emma Roberts, Giselle Michel-Gendre & Hair by Corinne worked together to create a dramatic look.

The concept for the tablescape was to create a glamorous beach picnic with low tables and Moroccan style seating and rugs, hired from Virginias Vintage Hire.

“I wanted to keep an almost traditional style table setting with beautiful linens from Beyond Vintage, and tall tapered candles. I also utilised accessories from Keeping It Vintage, and included accents of natural agate and amber” Nikki

We absolutely adore the abundant tablescape, and love how Nikki used oodles of natural textures and elements to create it. So striking, and the colours are so reminiscent of the cliffside location of the shoot.

A cake inspired by feathers, and in a striking mustard tone, from Claire’s Sweet Temptations and beautiful hammered silver jewellery by Nikki Stark finished the look.

Neutral Moroccan Vibes…And An Alpaca!

Full of golden tones and pampas, we love this Moroccan styled shoot.

As the weather starts to turn milder, and the days grow longer, we’re looking ahead too summer…which is why we are all about this warming shoot submitted by photographer, Isabel Pogscheba.

Full of golden tones, pampas and simple styling, there is also a surprise guest in the form of a gorgeous, white alpaca. Speaking to Isabel, we learnt that her idea was to create a bridal styled shoot in a rustic, moroccan, festival style…and the suppliers she pulled together certainly nailed the concept!

It’s beautifully neutral, and has oodles of character…

Alpaca Bridaleditorial 5

Alpaca Bridaleditorial 12

Bathed in golden light, despite the weather on the day being dreary and damp, the team brought to life a little corner of the field which is the alpaca’s home with gorgeous, vintage wicker furniture, brass vases and candlesticks, and bang on-trend pouffes.

We especially love the cake with the stalks of florals, pampas and feathers sticking upright out of the centre…such a unique and modern way to style a buttercream cake!

Alpaca Bridaleditorial 47

Alpaca Bridaleditorial 46

Alpaca Bridaleditorial 45

The bridal style overflowed with lace…with a lace skirt and top, and a gorgeous shawl to drape over the models shoulders. Opting to go without jewellery, the team decided to up-style her gown with a beautiful floral crown handmade with white roses and eucalyptus, and a stunning bridal turban in gold, shimmery tones.

We love the different take on the boho style…natural, effortless and free-flowing, with fresh-faced bridal beauty.

TOP TIP: Vintage wicker and rattan furniture is such a massive trend this year…so if you are a stylist, snap it up on eBay/pre-loved websites or at bootsales/vintage fairs while you can, as new-age replicas are really expensive! Also, buying pre-loved items is much more eco-friendly!

Think chairs, end tables, coffee tables and even day-beds which can be used for sweetheart tables and chill out areas.

Boho With A Twist At Lock 91

We love a boho wedding setup in different, unique locations…like this gorgeous industrial boho shoot in Manchester.

So you probably know Wed in The Wild best for it’s outdoorsy, boho vibe; being at one with nature and discovering the great outdoors. But we really dig a boho wedding setup in different, unique locations…like this gorgeous industrial boho shoot at Lock 91 in Manchester.

We don’t know whether it’s Editor Jenna’s northern roots, or whether it’s the beautiful boho nods, but this shoot has some serious styling goals and gorgeous colour pops. It’s making us feel a little bit warm and tingly inside, which is saying something as the weather has turned so cold!

Submitted by Michelle Healey of Michelle Amy Weddings, this whimsical setup will send your head a-spinning with its Pinterest-worthy wedding inspiration…

Now if you are a sucker for macrame like we are, then you’ll love this amazing hexagonal backdrop from Bespoke Events and Styling woven with intricate macrame weaves by Little White Attic. It was certainly one of the focal points of this ‘perfect nod to boho’ styled shoot, which Michelle tells us about…

“We wanted to create a boho style wedding in an industrial setting. Boho is such a fab style and is usually shown in outdoor setting with tipis and such, so we wanted to show that the two can marry together, and with the right setting and venue this can be done indoors.”

The team chose Lock 91 in Manchester as the venue for the shoot; which is, internally, lovely and moody. Emma Boyle’s photography perfectly captured the moodiness of the venue and added to that dark charm that we associate with bohemian weddings.

uwc lock 91-45

The team from Little White Attic also supplied an insane macrame canopy, which stole the styling show as far as we are concerned…we would love to see more of it to be honest! This showstopper was used to frame the beautiful cake by Urban Cake House.

The cake, beautifully detailed in its appearance, featured piped macrame, copper hexagons which fitted seamlessly into the theme of the shoot. We especially love the bottom tier, which looks like different colour geodes…and definitely good enough to eat.

We’re not meaning to be biased here, but one of our favourite aspects of the shoot (aside from, well…all of it), is the stationery. There sometimes isn’t enough emphasis on stationery in a shoot but the items provided by Raspberry Toast are just beautiful. And completely in contact to what most stationery for boho weddings looks like. This suite is super clean with gorgeous copper nods, and we are loving Cath’s creativity.

Outdoors, the team setup a tablescape and chill out area for the model, Charlotte, to relax amongst. The florals, by Perfect Bouquet included so much gorgeous texture, from ferns and pampas to delicate cows parsley.

Emma captured this shoot in all its dark and moody beauty.; just the right emotive photography needed to match the dark qualities of the venue, Lock 91. And Michelle explains how the weather fitted the darkness of the shoot…typical of Manchester!

“As we had a setup outside we had to stay on weather watch, dark clouds threatened the skies and we were so lucky, as we wrapped the shoot the heavens opened!” Michelle

uwc lock 91-251

Real Wedding: Kasia & Kuba

Shot by Daniela Nizzoli in the hills of Tuscany, Kasia and Kuba’s wedding shows their love for one another.

Receiving this beautiful, tranquil real wedding in our inbox was an absolute honour. It shows the beauty in simplicity. The wonder in the little details; which don’t have to match, and don’t have to be expensive. This wedding completely encompasses the notion of doing what suits you, when it comes to your big day.

Shot by Daniela Nizzoli in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Kasia and Kuba are the most relaxed and natural couple; full of love for one another. Their wedding was a small affair, with close family and friends, which fostered a real calming vibe…

“Photographing for me is like giving people a little bit of them that they can not see from their eyes, but that needs an external point of view. I always try to get to the soul of my clients in order to establish a connection.” Daniela

Daniela’s passion for shooting real couples is beautifully illustrated in Kasia and Kuba’s wedding photos. It is super important for Daniela to form a bond with her couples in order to get the best possible shots from their wedding…

“First of all I make sure they feel themselves in front of the camera without perceiving my presence around as intrusive. I asked them to hug and enjoy the moment of intimacy without the other guests. After a few minutes I managed to make myself invisible.”

Kasia+KubaWedding-433

Kasia looks like a mediterranean goddess in her simple, flowing white gown, with sun kissed skin and beautiful gold sandals; both pretty and practical. Her bridal look was finished with a lavender and wildflower bouquet and gypsophila/olive leave hair crown. Kuba kept it simple with a bowtie and braces, and a dapper chequered jacket.

The church ceremony carried the wildflower theme, with sprigs of beautifully foraged flowers decorating the aisle. And we love the pretty gold confetti cannons released by two of the groomsmen!

“There was an atmosphere of joy, of tranquility and it allowed me to give the best of myself. The biggest challenge was not to fall into banality; instead, I tried to create a story giving value to the details that were inspired by nature” Daniela

Daniela led the couple out into open hills for their couples portraits. With a beautiful view ahead of them and perfect weather, the three worked together to create some beautiful, honest magic; showcasing the simple elegance of the couple and the beauty of the natural surroundings.

“For me, love is laughs, complicity, it’s the heat in a hug when you’ve had a bad day, it’s being able to be yourself with someone without being afraid of judgments” Daniela

Pinterest: Best Friend or Worst Enemy?

When it comes to weddings, there is one app which has changed the planning game more than any other…Pinterest.

When it comes to weddings, there is one app which has changed the wedding planning game more than any other…Pinterest. And we can understand why; it’s easy to use and it’s highly visual. But it also has it’s downsides…especially for the suppliers who might be working on your wedding or event.

Whilst it can be a great resource for pulling together mood boards, colour schemes and general styling ideas for your wedding, it is worth remembering that a multitude if different factors may mean that it may not be possible to replicate a particular image for your own wedding…cost, season, location to name a few.

amy_seb_pithall_barn-1

Louise Rodrigues from Beyond V explains more…

“when I’m working with a client who only wants on the day styling, I try to really instil in them how easy it is to have a Pinterest fail on their wedding day. When thinking about decor budgets and looking at aspirational images, its really important to think about your whole venue, not just that one photo you saw on the internet which is probably only one corner of a whole room of gorgeousness.”

amy_seb_pithall_barn-2

A really good point. Many images on Pinterest are taken from what we call in the industry a ‘styled photoshoot’, which is the pooling of wedding suppliers to create a conceptual shoot which showcases the talents and creativity of each supplier. A tablescape image may only be set for six whereas your wedding may require 80 place settings. Something which is all too familiar for Louise…

“I’m often sent pins of ceilings covered with balloons to re create on the day then when it comes to the day, I’ve been provided with thirty balloons to fill a whole barn… it is a Pinterest fail waiting to happen. And it goes for every aspect of styling; theres loads of images around with gorgeous vintage crates piled high with florals everywhere, then on the day Im left with two crates and a teeny bottle of stems”.

amy_seb_pithall_barn-68

Similarly, Cindy Lindsley of Peachy Keen Coordination is all too familiar with Pinterest faux pas. She tries to steer clear of Pinterest when mood-boarding with her clients…not least because she is driven by dreaming up new creations and ideas.

“I have to sometimes break their hearts by telling them the logistics/cost/reality of that one Pinterest photo. I almost think Pinterest needs a disclaimer”

She goes onto explain that ‘Pinterest-worthy’ images are super deceptive, and when planning for a real life event, typically on a couples budget things cannot always be closely replicated in the same way.

amy_seb_pithall_barn-219

Out top tips for avoiding Pinterest faux pas:

  1. Speak to your suppliers in advance – determine budgets required to replicate certain images
  2. Be prepared to use alternatives (especially when it comes to flowers) as seasonal growing may limit the flowers which are available
  3. Don’t rely solely on Pinterest for your inspiration – pick up a fashion or home decor magazine for fresh ideas and direction
  4. Set a realistic budget for all aspects of your wedding, and create a list of ‘must-have’ and ‘nice to have’ elements for your day
  5. Prioritise and work out what elements of your wedding are the most important to you – flowers may be your priority where a cake may not, etc
