Kilkenny Beach Elopement

Real couple Jordan & Freddie joined photographer Roshni for a beach elopement.

We’re loving how elopements are becoming more visible in today’s wedding industry…they used to be clandestine, secretive operations, but nowadays, so many couples are embracing the opportunity to get married in a small intimate ceremony together…saving the big party for a later date!

Jordan & Freddie shot this beautiful, simple but emotive elopement scene on Kilkenny Beach last November, with photographer Roshni. And despite the wind and cold, the trio created some beautiful, love-filled magic.

“A beach elopement shoot was always my dream and I had a chance to just do that when I went to Belfast in November for a weekend. Jordan and Freddie were just perfect for this shoot as they both are madly in love with each other and athletic too. They love surf boarding, playing football and are in love with Ireland just like me.” Roshni

Roshni sourced a dress from Susanna Greening before she left the UK, and the suit was the grooms own. The concept was really based on how a real life elopement would look like, come rain or shine; and the team certainly braved the cold November weather…exposed to the elements on the beachside shoot.

Amazingly, the flowers were sourced from Aldi on the morning of the shoot and hand-tied by Roshni…just showing that if your budget from flowers isn’t great, and you have the patience, you can create a beautiful bouquet on very little money.

Elopement: Mira & Pearce

Mira and Pearce eloped in Jordan River and celebrated with a tiny group of loved ones.

We love it when couples do their wedding their way. From design and decor, to the ceremony itself. And so many couples these days are opting to elope; the ultimate, personal wedding; shunning the expectation to have that big, all out wedding.

Mira and Pearce eloped in Jordan River (West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada), and celebrated with a tiny group of loved ones. They embraced what they wanted for their special day and ran with it…quite literally, through a waterfall!

Submitted by their photograpehrs, Tulle & Tweed, Mira and Pearce are just the loveliest couple, with a great eye for style. We loved hearing their story, and are so pleased to feature their beautiful day on Wed in The Wild.

Mira & Pearce met on Tinder, but their story is different; definitely not they typical Tinder meet. In fact, Mira almost didn’t swipe right on Pearce’s heavily unpopulated profile. Having just joined the app, he hadn’t even fill out his profile, and for most, that is a huge red flag.

For Mira, it was scary, but what scared her more was how attractive she found him; perhaps to attractive for her, she thought. She didn’t swipe right. Her friend however, did it for her!

We are so thankful she did!

“These two are kindred spirits, and the way they chose to marry was their own in every sense of the matter. When they contacted me to see if I would want to be a part of their day, I knew we would be the perfect fit for this adventure elopement.” Tulle & Tweed

The couple chose to rent an idyllic cabin in the woods in Jordan River for their preparations and legal document signing. They spent the morning with Mira’s dad, brother and friend.

“When we arrived, they were so excited to get things moving. This was despite a torrential downpour, which Pearce referred to as “the perfect day” for their wedding. They embraced their November wedding date wholeheartedly, and were open to whatever the weather gods had in store for us.” Tulle & Tweed

With umbrellas in tow, they departed for the hike to the chosen location; but none of them remembered how to get to Mystic Beach; it’s location elusive. Without service on their phones, they drove around for a bit trying to find it, with no luck. Just when they thought their luck was out, they came across the entrance to the trail in an unmarked parking lot.

“We parked, popped some bubbly in their converted VW van and enjoyed cake from the always delicious Ruth & Dean. Once we were hydrated and full of sugar, we started off on our adventure. Hiking through dense old growth forest through hills, mud and ravines, we came to the entrance to this glorious beach after about 45 minutes of hiking . The view was spectacular and Mira and Pearce couldn’t help but run across the beach in excitement.” Tulle & Tweed

With seals popping their heads in and out of the water, Mira & Pearce settled on the perfect location for their vow exchange. Tulle & Tweed offered the couple privacy and distance, capturing their nuptials from afar amid the stunning, natural backdrop.

“To my surprise, once we finished, they darted across the beach then looped back and jumped straight through the waterfall and into their futures together.” Tulle & Tweed

What an awesome narrative to the imagery!

“Sopping wet, we took some more photos on the beach before realizing the time. With an hour hike back up the hill, we said goodbye to the sunset before us and headed off through the forest – Mira in her white dress and the three of us singing to the tune of The Skye Boat Song (aka The Outlander theme song) as we tried to beat the fading light.” Tulle & Tweed

I think we can all agree…what a perfect ending to the perfect day.

Little Lost Cabin in The Woods

There are so many pretty tones in today’s shoot that we’re really gearing up for the warmer months…

There are so many pretty tones in today’s shoot that we’re really gearing up for the warmer months; pinks, lilacs, peaches and even golden tones. Hmm, yes…makes us feel all warm inside.

And the colourful flowers on the sumptuously decked out tablescape aren’t the only things brightening our mood…the ridiculously stunning dress, lacy and complete with gloriously oversized trumpet sleeves, will be sure to fill you all the way up…

Submitted by Elizabeth A Images, the elopement shoot took place in a secluded log cabin in the woods of Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The models, real-life newlyweds, brought a sweet and genuine glow to the day…showing their complete and utterly lost for words love with the team around them.

Soft and warm shades of pink and mustard were the order of the day and the team fulfilled that brief. Flowers by Vintage Soul Floral Design incorporated roses, peonies and lush foliage. Flowers adorned not only the tablescape and the log cabin’s fireplace, but also the models hat in a unique and playful twist on the bridal fedora trend.

All details were paid attention too, from the abundant, graceful and flowing tablescape, to the flatlay for the unique and ingenious wooden stationery which was designed by the super creative Cut Above Stationery Team. We love the use of different wooden textures in the stationery, combined with a pressed fern motif.

And that macrame cake…sheer perfection by The Wow Factor Cakes.

The bridal models makeup was kept simple and natural with only a smattering of pink lipstick and a light dusting of peachy pink colour across her eyelids; working perfectly with both her skin tone and the colour palette for the day. The groom looked dapper in his quirky shirt and on-trend mustard chinos, complete with a wooden textured bolo tie.

We love this playful spin on an elopement shoot…set somewhere really secluded, and featuring all the playful colours of summer.

Literal hats off to a great, creative team!

How did you come to be doing what you do?

When I was 14, my at-the-time favourite rock band had a gig nearby where I lived. I asked my dad if he would buy me a point and shoot soap-shaped 4 megapixel digital camera to photograph what was – obviously –  the most important day of my life and since then I never really put it down.

Fast-forward a decade or so, friends and family started to ask me if I would photograph their weddings and I’m so glad they did! Because I certainly would not have planned for this to happen and I would have never found out how much I enjoy shooting weddings! I shot my very first wedding nearly 3 years ago and I got totally hooked.

Wed in the Wild pics

I don’t often share this, but I switched to weddings from science – I’m a fully qualified research scientist with a PhD in biology under my belt. It was super scary to make the switch from this polar opposite environment but I know for sure it was the right decision and I’ve not looked back since!

Erm, wow…now that’s an amazing switch!

What aspects of weddings do you love the most?

It’s always such an honour and pleasure to be part of someone’s wedding celebrations. Simply knowing that a couple chose me to come along and document it is an amazing feeling and means a great deal to me.

Overall, it’s a mixture of so many things I love about a wedding day, like getting to know my couples and their stories, hearing about all the things they’re planning for their big day,  witnessing all the emotion, perfect and imperfect moments of a wedding day. And for sure one of the highlights of working as a wedding photographer is getting a happy email from a couple saying just how much they love the photos I delivered to them! Nothing really beats that feeling 🙂

Wed in the Wild pics

What is your USP? How do you set yourself apart in the market?

I love working with couples who would rather break free from tradition and do things their own way. I’m a big lover of nature and I try to incorporate wild and dramatic landscapes into my work whenever possible.

The vast majority of people who get in touch with me share the same interests and values – (they are lovers of nature and travel, most likely own at least one dog!), and also comment on the mood in my photos, which I like to describe as atmospheric.

Wed in the Wild pics

Are you keen to or have plans to launch any other products or services?

So funny you should ask! I have been quietly working on a side-show for a while and plan to launch later this year. I won’t say much about it now, aside from the fact that it’s got to do with my interest in hands!

Elena…filling us with all the suspense!

What do you love most about the wedding industry?

I absolutely love the community and how open to collaboration everyone is. I love there are directories for all the different styles of weddings – outdoor weddings, boho weddings, luxe weddings, there’s such a diverse array of styles and it’s so easy to get in touch with like-minded people and create inspirational images. If I were a bride right now I’d be inundated with choice – which I absolutely love.

Describe your ideal wedding?

Intimate, closest family and friends, somewhere in nature, by the sea or in a cabin in the mountains, lots of good food, freedom to do what I want, and sweaty drunk dancing all night long! (we actually had all this at our own wedding except we had to stop the party at midnight).

Wed in the Wild pics

Which celebrity wedding style do you love?

I think I shield myself away from the celebrity world to know too much about celebrity weddings, but I do follow Quigley and I’m absolutely in love with her! I love the images of her modelling gorgeous Rue de Seine dresses in crazy cool locations.

We LOVE Quigley, too!

What do you think is the biggest issue in the wedding industry?

I guess it depends whose point of view we’re looking at here…

Personally I wish the older generations would put less pressure on couples getting married to abide by societal norms rather than accepting new traditions. Weddings should be all about the couple and expectations from other people can really take the fun out of wedding planning!

Wed in the Wild pics

Also if I had the power to change anything I’d probably pass the law for couples to be able to get married anywhere in England and Wales (not sure where the 2018 Budget discussions led to on this one!).

What does love mean to you…

Selflessness. Compromise. Kindness.

We couldn’t agree more, my love – thank you so much for sharing your story with us Elena!

WiTW Hearts…Esme Whiteside

Introducing photographer Esme Whiteside: a cat loving, Northerner with a beautiful photography style.

As our platform grows and grows, we want to shine some loving spotlights on the amazing talent which make the wedding industry tick. From photographers to dress designers, cake artists to florists, stationers and jewellers…we want to bring you the most inspiring stories behind some of the wonderful faces in the wedding industry.

Whether you are a bride looking for kick-ass suppliers for your wedding, a fellow vendor looking to connect with fabulous creatives or you are simply interested in hearing peoples unique stories, then Wed in The Wild Hearts is the feature for you.

First up, we’re introducing photographer Esme Whiteside. In her own words she’s a cat loving, Northern gal. She’s a a traveller, an observer and she’s downright addicted to love. Based in Northwest England, Esme offers her services both nationally and internationally. We started following Esme a while back and we are completely obsessed with her raw, emotive and nostalgic photography style. We wanted to find out more about the face behind the camera…

Cover

How did you come to be doing what you do?

Esme: I studied Fine Art at university. My uni was really liberal in the sense of what we could do within our own studios, and I ended up specialising my degree in fine art photography and videography. I was really obsessed with conceptual photography as an art form.

From there I went into working in a family photography studio, which I ended up absolutely loathing. It was too target driven and sales based with 0 creativity. I left and decided to jump into weddings, I’ve never looked back.

What aspects of weddings do you love the most?

Esme: I really love meeting people. I love hearing people’s stories, and creating a full documentary of the most special days of people’s lives. Often my couples cherish the images that they didn’t know I’d even taken the most. I love presenting couples with moments they didn’t realise happened, and allowing them to relive the love from the day through my photos.

379A3061

I love being there for people throughout the day too, offering advice and little words of wisdom to help calm nerves. There’s a lot of adrenaline flying around at weddings, which massively brings out my creativity. I feel, daily, very privileged that I not only get to share this experience with people, but I get to document it for them – I also often cry at super soppy weddings…but don’t mind me, the tears will only ruin my makeup and not the camera!

What is your USP? How do you set yourself apart in the market?

Esme: I definitely feel like my work meets at an interchange between Fine Art and documentary. I know there’s a lot of fine art wedding photographers, and there’s a lot of documentary wedding photographers, but I don’t think there are many that cross over. My work is really warm, dark and moody. Again, there are a lot of dark and moody photographers, but I feel there’s something really tangible and nostalgic about my images, whilst also being interactive and very in the moment.

(We really couldn’t agree more, Esme)

379A0595

Are you keen to or have plans to launch any other products or services?

Esme: I’ve got so many plans for this year. I definitely want to look at being uber creative and channeling some of my visions. I’m thinking lots of styled shoots; I’m a control freak and LOVE organising. I also love networking and bringing together amazing creatives to make something beautiful and inspiring. I love helping newer photographers too, and sharing my visions with people needing more content, so I’m definitely thinking portfolio builders for photographers too.

In terms of for my couples, I’ll be launching some new add ons to my full day package – new albums, post shoots instead of pre-shoots (I’ve got my first one this year which I’m so excited about!) and special destination and elopement pricing.

379A7862

What do you love most about the wedding industry?

Esme: I love how supportive everyone is of one another. The majority of suppliers I’ve met, especially other photographers have a real community over competition spirit. I love how weddings can be anything you can dream of now, and how suppliers across the industry come together to create really incredible visions for couples.

What do you think is the biggest issue in the wedding industry?

Esme: As I said, most suppliers are really lovely, supportive and welcoming. On the odd occasion I’ve found suppliers to be quite intimidating, especially to newbies. I’m firmly in the community over competition camp, and don’t think acting like a rockstar gives a good impression to anyone.

I think there’s also a lot of pressure on couples for their wedding to be the biggest, best, most elaborate celebration, especially when amazing viral images go around of incredible destinations etc. If you get married, then everything went perfectly because you are married. No one needs the stress or pressure of co-ordinating everything to a tee. Celebrate your love your way.

379A3178

Describe your ideal wedding?

Esme: My favourite weddings are always the relaxed, pared back, stress free ones. I love an elaborate plan, and I love it when a plan comes together, but what I really love most is when couples celebrate their love, their way.

As I’ve said already, at the end of the day, as long as you get married then your day went exactly how it should have. Weddings that really give me that warm fuzzy feeling, of wow these people are SO IN LOVE, are essentially my favourite. Especially if it happens in a barn… with lots of pampas grass.

379A6437 1

Which celebrity wedding style do you love?

Esme: Honestly I really loved Miley Cyrus’ wedding recently. I know we didn’t get many major details, but it all just looked so sentimental and sweet. Super intimate and private, just the right amount of fuss, and perfect pared back details.

Her dress was really minimalistic, on trend muted dusky blooms, and simple hair and makeup. I loved everything I could get my hands on to see about it, just really personal and gorgeous.

What does love mean to you…

Esme: I think love comes in many different forms, and manifests itself differently to everyone. Love to me is coming home to my cats and my man, and feeling safe and secure every day.

Love is being with someone who supports you, lets you dream but keeps your crazy in check. Love to me is definitely having someone balance you out, keep you on an even keel and run with your wild ideas every once in a while.

The shoot was conceptualised by Cassie, Stephanie and the florist…all had a hand in discussing the tone, the vibe and the palette. All lovers of the boho trend, they decided to stay true to their hearts and stick with a style they love.

As Cassie and Matt are a real, married couple, they bought honesty and chemistry to the set. Added to that, Cassie wore her actual wedding dress and they whispered vows to each other renewing their love and commitment. A joy to shoot, I can certainly imagine. And I’m so glad Cassie wore one of her many hats, adding to the boho vibes of the shoot.

The shoot ran amazing, and as Cassie explains, everyone was so fun to work with…

“We laughed a ton and we all got along so well that it made it feel natural and easy. Jess (the florist) did her thing throughout the shoot. She even grabbed some sea weed when we were down by the water and tied it around the bouquet just to give it an extra magic touch. Stephanie (the photographer) gave great direction and posed Matt and I perfectly. Her editing is warm and glowy and it worked out great with the lighting and theme”.

Playing on the moodiness of the weather is certainly something a good photographer will do. Magic can be woven…so don’t worry if your day is marred by overcast clouds or rain…

“The only challenge involved with this shoot was the weather. It was kind of cloudy and gloomy, but as you can see, the images turned out amazing. The cloudy sky created a vintage bohemian feel, which was exactly what we were going for.” Cassie

For the last part of the shoot, Cassie & Matt changed out of their wedding attire and donned some relaxed, beachy clothing. Neither were afraid to get all the way into the water, and splash around and have fun. The waves were crashing, and Stephanie (the photographer) ventured out with them to get the perfect shot.

I absolutely love how relaxed and refined this shoot is…whilst it’s earthy, tonal and boho, there is still a delicacy and an elegance about it. All tied up with a ribbon of fun and playfulness. I urge all of our couples reading this to let go and have fun with your wedding portraits; after all, staying true to yourselves and showing your fun side always makes for some awesome memories to be captured.

Real Wedding: Aimee & Melba

Aimee and Melba’s elopement is just about everything we love…because, dogs.

Today’s real wedding comes all the way from the states. Submitted by the gorgeous Natasha Shipiro, Aimee and Melba’s elopement is just about everything we love…oodles of personal touches, dogs, family and friends, arms and hearts full of love, dogs, outdoor fun and more dogs.

Aimee and Melba decided to elope for their wedding day in a beautiful farmhouse in Cold Spring, NY. Pretty much every element imaginable was put together by friends and family. Melba’s sister made the beautiful flower arrangements, their friend Adam made a cake to be shared with friends, and they even made their own invitations. With their dogs as their bridal party and their closest friends around them, they had a weekend extravaganza of good homemade food, good wine, and lots of lounging in the hot tub.

Now, what could be more perfect than that? Get ready for all the feels…

Now if you haven’t heard of Natasha, or seen her work, get on it. She’s a true sweetheart, and in her own words, she’s a dog petting, donut eating, outdoorsy wedding photographer. Natasha and her partner live and work part-time out of their 1977 Toyota Chinook camper, hitting the road when they can…and they are always on the hunt for the best tacos around.

Uhm…can we come live with you?

When Natasha got in touch with Aimee & Melba’s wedding, we knew there would be no way we’d say no, and after Natasha had explained more about them and their big day, we were hooked!

“Aimee, Melba and I had a really special bond right from the start. I had known Aimee since I was in high school, and when they asked me to photograph their elopement I just about cried. They are two really special people that have so much warmth and love in their hearts. Moms to a huge family of critters, they take in all sorts of 4 legged creatures in need and right now have 4 senior dogs, 1 cat, and even had a deaf ferret named Blanche at one point!” Natasha

What we love most about this lovely couples big day is their dogs…only joking (but they are seriously cute, right?)! In all honesty, what we love is the raw emotion, the happy tears and the long, lingering hugs. We love that the couple were surrounded by their nearest and dearest in the most beautiful location, a wooded area in the Hudson Valley.

“Right from the very beginning they knew that they wanted their day to be just for them. They decided to elope in the woods of a quaint Airbnb in the Hudson Valley, with only their closest friends waiting at the farmhouse nearby. They said their vows in the company of only each other, their dogs, and myself, with their best friend to officiate. Two of their pups were their ring bearer and flower girl. With vows filled with about 100 references from The Office, lots of silly reminders of their favorite things about each other, and endless dog hair, by the time their ceremony was over all of us were in tears over just how touching it all was.” Natasha

Sounds so beautiful and personal.

In a world where love and respect isn’t always the order of the day, this beautiful elopement warms our hearts; it’s important to remember and support love it all its beautiful forms. Love is taking care of each other, respecting each other, nurturing each other and ultimately being there for one another through all of life’s hurdles. We think it’s important to remember just how profound and life-altering love can be. And as Natasha explains…

“Love means knowing that you’ve found your person. Having that knowing, a deep knowing, that you’ve found home.”

All hail love.

Christmas Day in the Catskills

This wonderfully festive styled shoot has us swooning over all the little details!

Merry Christmas! We hope you are having a beautiful day with your loved ones, however you are celebrating. Did you have chocolate for breakfast? If you didn’t, you aren’t doing Christmas right!

When we think of Christmas we think of festive reds and greens, and all that’s in between; snow on the ground, hot chocolate in your favourite mug, a blanket to warm your feet and hands. And this super beautiful style shoots has all that…and more. Abundant tablescape styling with perfect attention to detail, rich and seasonal florals and of course, a beautiful red velvet dress.

Submitted by the lovely Natalie Colapietro, the shoot was located in the Catskill Mountains of New York, on top of the stunning Kaaterskill Falls.

266A3609

266A3664

Natalie tells us more…

“Lyndsie and I decided two weeks before this shoot took place that we wanted to play on the idea of a winter wonderland concept and once decided, we knew we would do whatever it took to make the vision come true. We wanted a beautiful velvet dress which would remind us of Christmas, but also wanted to keep the overall feel quite rustic and woodsy with winter boots and whiskey.”

The team reached out to vendors from three different states (New York, Vermont and Massachusetts) in the hope that some were crazy enough to come together for a last minute shoot!

266A3714

266A3745

266A3865

Natalie and Lyndsie pitched their ideas and everyone was in love; more than excited to be a part of the ensuing magic. Stationary was mailed, the models travel three hours to be on location, and a hairstylist was able to fit the session into her extremely busy schedule.

Natalie explains that the day was a little hectic weather wise, which you can only imagine…

“The day itself gave us all kinds of difficult weather situations including harsh sunlight, fast winds, and super cold temperatures. Although the weather odds were against us, everything fell into place perfectly once we started shooting. We had enough hand warmers and whiskey to keep everyone from freezing to death! I did find it hard to have a wide variety of shots in such bitter cold though because everyone is just so stiff from shivering and it’s hard to loosen up for those action shots, which is completely understandable. We all had so much fun that we mostly could ignore the cold.”

266A3959

266A3966

When everyone is on the same page and so excited to bring a concept to life, it showcases just how creative people can push aside hindrances and obstacles to make beautiful art happen. And we are so thrilled that the team on this particular shoot was able to do that.

“My favourite part about this entire thing was that most of us started out as strangers and we all became friends instantly. We spent the night together at a cabin playing games, telling stories, laughing, cooking, eating, and drinking, and I’ve never felt so at home with people I had just met before.” Natalie

Oftentimes, within this highly competitive industry, it’s hard to overcome feelings of imposter syndrome and indeed, comparing yourself to others doing a similar job, but what we love about this shoot almost as much as the visual beauty of it, is the way it has brought strangers together and made them friends…now, thats the true meaning of Christmas, friendship. A meaning which Natalie sums up in one heavenly paragraph…

“Christmas is my favorite holiday, and to me this holiday and time of year is all about making memories with the people in our lives who we cherish. I’ve made this amazing memory with these newly cherished people, and I’m forever thankful for every single one of them. They’re forever friends now.”

Amber of Rock & Stone explains more about the concept behind the elopement shoot…

“Kevin & Steph had recently got engaged and answered a model call for a snowy elopement shoot on Mount Rainier. We wanted to create something with some holiday spirit but avoid it looking like an over-the-top Christmas theme. We settled on a magical boho vibe, with lots of texture, a cosy bed in the woods with faux furs and sequins to contrast with the the glorious expanses of white.”

The shoot certainly does that. We love the contrasting textures and how the juxtapose against the beauty of the snowy, natural woodland. When the photos first landed in our inbox we instantly thought…Narnia! A vibe which Amber herself felt too whilst constructing the day.

When flicking through the images, we were blown away by the details. The tablescape is abundant and flowing without looking heavily stylised, and the bed area is just perfection and something we haven’t seen before.

We love how Steph looked so effortless in her chic dress with the prettiest, dazzling embellishments…perfectly glistening in the snowy wonderland. Paired with stone boots and a dramatic oxblood fur coat and fedora, this bridal look is exquisite. Kevin looked suitably dapper, even for a trek up a snowy mountainside…hats off, it must have been freezing!

Kevin, an Arizona native had never seen snow in real life before and so the team loved seeing him experience it for the first time!

“Even though I’ve been to Mount Rainier a few times now, I still get goosebumps, and for Steph & Kevin who had never been before I think they were kind of blown away. We spent the afternoon in the sun, mainly watching Kevin act like a kid at DisneyLand; there’s something pretty cute about seeing a grown man make his first snow angel!” Amber

Christmas has definitely come early with this striking elopement…we hope you enjoy it as much as we do…

Real Wedding: Manny & Britt

This real wedding is everything elopement should be; cosy, intimate and full of love.

When the amazing Kortni Steltz, of Kortni Maria, got in touch with this elopement, our heads nearly popped off with complete and utter excitement. It’s everything an elopement should be; cosy, intimate, full of love and affection, and of course, those tiny details which make your heart sing.

Manny and Britt are a couple from Brooklyn, New York, and have been together for about 10 years. Never a fan of big weddings, they decided to elope to the Catskills in upstate New York. Britt had followed Kortni on Instagram and loved her style of photography. After their engagement shoot in Central Park with Kortni, Britt and Manny chose her to capture their November elopement.

“After their engagement session I knew that their elopement was going to be my favorite. Their love was so pure and real, and I knew that they were going to show that on their big day. Britt and I kept in touch though text and Instagram message until their elopement. We bonded over choosing pretty wedding details, and our mutual love of the podcast “My Favourite Murder”” Kortni

Manny & Britt chose a secluded cabin in the Catskills, upstate New York, for their elopement…and boy are we glad they did. Such a sweet little house, with some perfect nooks and crannies. Kortni was able to capture some gorgeous shots of the couple on the porch in the late morning, alongside some chill out shots of them in the bedroom and kitchen…all just adding a little more wedding day flavour to this  unique day.

“I loved how slow we moved, like it didn’t feel all rushed like some bigger weddings can feel.” Kortni

This chilled wedding was plain sailing for the couple and for Kortni, with the rain being the only challenge…and a very mild challenge at that, as Manny & Britt were completely happy to go outside with Kortni’s clear umbrella.

“Manny and Britt didn’t mind getting a little wet and muddy (like most of my awesome couples) so we braved the rain for an about an hour” Kortni

From the dress and grooms suit, to the boots, the flower crown and the tablescape details, this creative couple pulled the entire look for their wedding together by themselves. Indeed, the day itself comprised of four people; the bride, the groom, the officiant and Kortni. Manny & Britt can so perfectly say that they did their wedding completely their own way.

For Kortni, she learned that the simpler the wedding the better:

“Manny and Britt made a choice to have their wedding day be just about them, even though it might upset some people. I know they wouldn’t change how they did things for the world though because it was so perfectly intimate and special.”

In true Wed in The Wild style, we asked Kortni her views on the meaning of love…

“Love is a choice and it is unconditional. It means waking up every day next to your best friend and choosing them. Choosing to serve them, help them, encourage them, learn with them, and stay with them through thick and thin.”

I don’t think we could say it better ourselves. Congrats to Manny & Britt!
