Real Wedding: Daryen & Markus

A super fun real wedding set in a ghost town, Wild West open air venue.

After a week long hiatus, following a major technical fault on Jenna’s laptop, we bringing gorgeous wedding inspiration back with this beautiful, super fun real wedding. Daryen & Markus were already legally married the day of their ceremony and party, but that didn’t stop the lovely couple from sharing their devotion and love for one another with their nearest and dearest.

Ross, the couples photographer, tells us more about this gorgeous couple in love…

“These two were actually already hitched before their wedding day. They wanted to buy a house and they had to be married, so they went to the courthouse to say their I-do’s. A few months later they finally got to have a beautiful rustic wedding with family and friends to witness and celebrate with them” Ross

Excited is an understatement when Daryen and Markus told Ross that they had decided on the ghost town in Searchlight, Nevada called Eldorado Canyon. It’s a playground for a photographer, with countless places to take epic photos. The day started off in the Golden Gate at Fremont Street in Downton Las Vegas, which was actually the first ever Las Vegas hotel. How cool is that?!

The bride made her bouquet from flowers at Hobby Lobby, and after the girls got ready they all headed to Nelson in a party bus for the wedding. The men got ready in the main building, putting on their suspenders and brushing their beards.

“Daryen hid behind one of the sheds while Markus headed to the big rustic barn for their first look. How sweet was his reaction?! The black box in his hand is his gift to his Daryen; a new gun with a love letter written on it. The ceremony took place amongst cactuses, followed by eating and drinking under the stars, a pyramid of Pink Box donuts, the removal of one curious rattle snake and dancing in the old barn” Ross

Daryen explained that her decor for the day utilised bohemian inspiration but also, a lot of personal touches. She has always been a big fan of old-school floral pattern, lace and the couple were lucky enough to have the perfect place to decorate for their first dance and dance floor.

Most of the deck decor was DIY, from the table lighting to the flower arrangements to the bridesmaids bouquets and the brides bouquet.

“It was our special day and we worked really well together making sure it was perfect for us.” Daryen

The couple chose laid back outfits, and we love the fact that Daryen didn’t care about her beautiful gown getting a little bit dirty in the mud…just shows that she embraced her day and had a good old time!

“I wanted something that would be elegant and classy, yet allow for a good body movement, and always having been a fan of classic lace my choice was easy. I also wanted something that would complement my skin tone, but conceal my tattoos a little bit, so I opted for a dress that had longer but see-through sleeves. The dress itself had a 12” train and was made by Wear Your Love XO. The flower crown was another personal touch of my own.” Daryen

Markus chose an ensemble which wouldn’t detract from Daryen’s dress but would be bold enough to stand out from the desert landscape.

When it comes to advice for couples arranging their wedding day, Daryen and Markus’s advice is simple…

“Don’t stress about it! You probably will anyways, I know I did, but it’s about being with the person across from you saying “I do” and not so much about the stuff you know your soon to be hubby is going to get wrong. Live it up, let loose, and have fun! You’ll only get to do it one time!” Daryen

Kilkenny Beach Elopement

Real couple Jordan & Freddie joined photographer Roshni for a beach elopement.

We’re loving how elopements are becoming more visible in today’s wedding industry…they used to be clandestine, secretive operations, but nowadays, so many couples are embracing the opportunity to get married in a small intimate ceremony together…saving the big party for a later date!

Jordan & Freddie shot this beautiful, simple but emotive elopement scene on Kilkenny Beach last November, with photographer Roshni. And despite the wind and cold, the trio created some beautiful, love-filled magic.

ROS_6963

ROS_7108

“A beach elopement shoot was always my dream and I had a chance to just do that when I went to Belfast in November for a weekend. Jordan and Freddie were just perfect for this shoot as they both are madly in love with each other and athletic too. They love surf boarding, playing football and are in love with Ireland just like me.” Roshni

Roshni sourced a dress from Susanna Greening before she left the UK, and the suit was the grooms own. The concept was really based on how a real life elopement would look like, come rain or shine; and the team certainly braved the cold November weather…exposed to the elements on the beachside shoot.

Amazingly, the flowers were sourced from Aldi on the morning of the shoot and hand-tied by Roshni…just showing that if your budget from flowers isn’t great, and you have the patience, you can create a beautiful bouquet on very little money.

Elopement: Mira & Pearce

Mira and Pearce eloped in Jordan River and celebrated with a tiny group of loved ones.

We love it when couples do their wedding their way. From design and decor, to the ceremony itself. And so many couples these days are opting to elope; the ultimate, personal wedding; shunning the expectation to have that big, all out wedding.

Mira and Pearce eloped in Jordan River (West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada), and celebrated with a tiny group of loved ones. They embraced what they wanted for their special day and ran with it…quite literally, through a waterfall!

Submitted by their photograpehrs, Tulle & Tweed, Mira and Pearce are just the loveliest couple, with a great eye for style. We loved hearing their story, and are so pleased to feature their beautiful day on Wed in The Wild.

Mira & Pearce met on Tinder, but their story is different; definitely not they typical Tinder meet. In fact, Mira almost didn’t swipe right on Pearce’s heavily unpopulated profile. Having just joined the app, he hadn’t even fill out his profile, and for most, that is a huge red flag.

For Mira, it was scary, but what scared her more was how attractive she found him; perhaps to attractive for her, she thought. She didn’t swipe right. Her friend however, did it for her!

We are so thankful she did!

“These two are kindred spirits, and the way they chose to marry was their own in every sense of the matter. When they contacted me to see if I would want to be a part of their day, I knew we would be the perfect fit for this adventure elopement.” Tulle & Tweed

The couple chose to rent an idyllic cabin in the woods in Jordan River for their preparations and legal document signing. They spent the morning with Mira’s dad, brother and friend.

“When we arrived, they were so excited to get things moving. This was despite a torrential downpour, which Pearce referred to as “the perfect day” for their wedding. They embraced their November wedding date wholeheartedly, and were open to whatever the weather gods had in store for us.” Tulle & Tweed

With umbrellas in tow, they departed for the hike to the chosen location; but none of them remembered how to get to Mystic Beach; it’s location elusive. Without service on their phones, they drove around for a bit trying to find it, with no luck. Just when they thought their luck was out, they came across the entrance to the trail in an unmarked parking lot.

“We parked, popped some bubbly in their converted VW van and enjoyed cake from the always delicious Ruth & Dean. Once we were hydrated and full of sugar, we started off on our adventure. Hiking through dense old growth forest through hills, mud and ravines, we came to the entrance to this glorious beach after about 45 minutes of hiking . The view was spectacular and Mira and Pearce couldn’t help but run across the beach in excitement.” Tulle & Tweed

With seals popping their heads in and out of the water, Mira & Pearce settled on the perfect location for their vow exchange. Tulle & Tweed offered the couple privacy and distance, capturing their nuptials from afar amid the stunning, natural backdrop.

“To my surprise, once we finished, they darted across the beach then looped back and jumped straight through the waterfall and into their futures together.” Tulle & Tweed

What an awesome narrative to the imagery!

“Sopping wet, we took some more photos on the beach before realizing the time. With an hour hike back up the hill, we said goodbye to the sunset before us and headed off through the forest – Mira in her white dress and the three of us singing to the tune of The Skye Boat Song (aka The Outlander theme song) as we tried to beat the fading light.” Tulle & Tweed

I think we can all agree…what a perfect ending to the perfect day.

How did you come to be doing what you do?

When I was 14, my at-the-time favourite rock band had a gig nearby where I lived. I asked my dad if he would buy me a point and shoot soap-shaped 4 megapixel digital camera to photograph what was – obviously –  the most important day of my life and since then I never really put it down.

Fast-forward a decade or so, friends and family started to ask me if I would photograph their weddings and I’m so glad they did! Because I certainly would not have planned for this to happen and I would have never found out how much I enjoy shooting weddings! I shot my very first wedding nearly 3 years ago and I got totally hooked.

Wed in the Wild pics

I don’t often share this, but I switched to weddings from science – I’m a fully qualified research scientist with a PhD in biology under my belt. It was super scary to make the switch from this polar opposite environment but I know for sure it was the right decision and I’ve not looked back since!

Erm, wow…now that’s an amazing switch!

What aspects of weddings do you love the most?

It’s always such an honour and pleasure to be part of someone’s wedding celebrations. Simply knowing that a couple chose me to come along and document it is an amazing feeling and means a great deal to me.

Overall, it’s a mixture of so many things I love about a wedding day, like getting to know my couples and their stories, hearing about all the things they’re planning for their big day,  witnessing all the emotion, perfect and imperfect moments of a wedding day. And for sure one of the highlights of working as a wedding photographer is getting a happy email from a couple saying just how much they love the photos I delivered to them! Nothing really beats that feeling 🙂

Wed in the Wild pics

What is your USP? How do you set yourself apart in the market?

I love working with couples who would rather break free from tradition and do things their own way. I’m a big lover of nature and I try to incorporate wild and dramatic landscapes into my work whenever possible.

The vast majority of people who get in touch with me share the same interests and values – (they are lovers of nature and travel, most likely own at least one dog!), and also comment on the mood in my photos, which I like to describe as atmospheric.

Wed in the Wild pics

Are you keen to or have plans to launch any other products or services?

So funny you should ask! I have been quietly working on a side-show for a while and plan to launch later this year. I won’t say much about it now, aside from the fact that it’s got to do with my interest in hands!

Elena…filling us with all the suspense!

What do you love most about the wedding industry?

I absolutely love the community and how open to collaboration everyone is. I love there are directories for all the different styles of weddings – outdoor weddings, boho weddings, luxe weddings, there’s such a diverse array of styles and it’s so easy to get in touch with like-minded people and create inspirational images. If I were a bride right now I’d be inundated with choice – which I absolutely love.

Describe your ideal wedding?

Intimate, closest family and friends, somewhere in nature, by the sea or in a cabin in the mountains, lots of good food, freedom to do what I want, and sweaty drunk dancing all night long! (we actually had all this at our own wedding except we had to stop the party at midnight).

Wed in the Wild pics

Which celebrity wedding style do you love?

I think I shield myself away from the celebrity world to know too much about celebrity weddings, but I do follow Quigley and I’m absolutely in love with her! I love the images of her modelling gorgeous Rue de Seine dresses in crazy cool locations.

We LOVE Quigley, too!

What do you think is the biggest issue in the wedding industry?

I guess it depends whose point of view we’re looking at here…

Personally I wish the older generations would put less pressure on couples getting married to abide by societal norms rather than accepting new traditions. Weddings should be all about the couple and expectations from other people can really take the fun out of wedding planning!

Wed in the Wild pics

Also if I had the power to change anything I’d probably pass the law for couples to be able to get married anywhere in England and Wales (not sure where the 2018 Budget discussions led to on this one!).

What does love mean to you…

Selflessness. Compromise. Kindness.

We couldn’t agree more, my love – thank you so much for sharing your story with us Elena!

Wildly In Love at Lodge Farm

We’re loving the bohemian inspiration behind this gorgeous styled shoot.

As the evenings get lighter and the mornings get brighter, we’re looking ahead to the Spring and Summer. It has been a long,  cold winter, and so seeing warmer, golden tones shine through is a welcome interlude from the dark, wintry months.

Today’s shoot, incorporating lots of beautiful, warming tones, pink and peach hued florals and oodles of greenery is breathing fire into our souls. We’re loving the bohemian inspiration, and the real couple connection between Luke and Tyler. Shot by British Wedding Photographer of The Year 2018, Kelsie Low, at Lodge Farm Barns in Essex, this stunning bohemian behemoth of shoots is sure to win your heart.

As a photographer, Kelsie had steered away form styled shoots for a while, as her style of work is very relaxed, carefree and fun, rather than the posed style we usually see from styled shoots. In planning this activity, Kelsie really wanted to utilise a real couple, so that real couples getting married could really connect with the imagery.

“For me it’s so important to capture the true connection between people and this is what I strive to do in all of the photographs I take” Kelsie

Through the power of Instagram, Kelsie stumbled across Luke and Tyler of The Two Bohemians. A real couple based in Manchester, the pair exuded love and genuine emotion on the day, which made the shoot feel natural and honest, rather than staged.

Kelsie chose The Barns at Lodge Farm as the perfect setting for the shoot; a new, exclusive wedding and events venue, the barns are set in the beautiful Essex countryside, not far from London…but far enough away for you to feel solidly amongst nature.

The venue is a working farm, and has a variety of beautiful spaces to utilise; it really is the perfect venue for a dry-hire wedding – you can really make it your own!

When it came to hair and make up, Kelsie was set on a natural, free-flowing look and sought suppliers she knew would make this happen. Hair So Boho worked on Tylers hair, creating volume and unstructured, beachy blonde waves; the perfect backdrop to the beautiful, minimal and eucalyptus filled flower crown created by Becca of Velvet Rose.

Makeup was kept simple, fresh and bohemian by Beauty by Zoe, who opted for super flawless skin and statement eyes to make Tylers features pop.

Tyler wore a dress by Lucy Can’t Dance kindly lent by Essex-boutique, Rock The Frock Bridal.

Styling and furniture services were provided by Rock The Day and Anthology Vintage hire respectively. Anthology provided their unique reclaimed wood trestle tables, vintage chairs, furniture and props, all of which can be hired for weddings and events. In keeping with the tone, Kelsie and Amy (Anthology) opted for beautiful items which fit the palette of natural tones, including vintage green armchairs and sofa, and Persian rugs.

Laura, Alex and Magda from Rock The Day meticulously dressed the amazing tablescapes with crockery from Harriets Table and items from their own collection including macrame chair backs, table runners, dreamcatchers and their amazing macrame lanterns.

Floral design was provided by the amazing Becca of Velvet Rose Floral Design; a self proclaimed romantic floral-story teller, with a penchant for breaking rules…Becca loves to create amazing florals with a difference, utilising textures and colours to wow with show-stopping blooms.

For this shoot, Becca was inspired by her love for 70s bohemia, and provided a combination of fresh and dried ingredients for the bouquet, flower crown, meadow-style installation and table runners.

Additional styling came from the unique and eye-catching barrel grazer, created by the wondrous Grape & Fig; the UK’s first and finest provider of luxury Australasian-style grazing tables and installations. Toria played with height, and added candles and eucalyptus to her grazer, which was packed with meats, cheeses, fruits, breads and dips.

Lastly, Jenna of Wonderland Invites created beautiful stationery in keeping with the theme and colour palette of the shoot. Her invitation suite was paired with mossy green envelopes and foliage printed silk. The palette was kept neutral, with creamy florals and sage greens to evoke a real natural feel. The standout table plan was created utilising Jenna’s table plan cards, and Rock The Day’s perspex background and easel.

Real Wedding: Lidia & Edward

A beautiful homage to the simple things in life; Lidia & Edward spent their day, their way.

What I love about today’s real wedding is two-fold…submitted by Kiss In Light Photography; a Bournemouth based duo, Lidia & Edwards wedding feels so warm and inviting, and it was, by and large, completely homespun.

Photographers Gabor and Szandra are experienced in eco-friendly, vegan and boho weddings and had an instant connection with the couple.

“A fellow photographer recommended us to the couple, and we met them personally the next week. We ended up having unlimited personal meetings; celebrating Halloween, spending birthdays together, pizza nights…what more can I say…we genuinely love each other!” Szandra

l&e-69

Sometimes, it feels amazing just to go back to basics…and this is exactly how Lidia & Edward chose to celebrate their day. From preparing the flowers on the morning of the wedding to setting up their macrame backdrop for the woodland blessing, the couple genuinely made their day their own without compromising on their values.

“We loved the simplicity, the boho vibe, the vegan- and zero waste aspect, all their meaningful decisions…the relaxed and joyful atmosphere they created. This wedding was the first one which gave us personal inspiration. That’s a big thing for us! Szandra

To get away from the crowds and just be alone, celebrating your love and the commitment you’ve just made must be a wonderful notion…Lidia and Edward did just that directly after their legal ceremony.

They took to the woods carrying their macrame a-frame backdrop and hiked along a trail to find the perfect spot for their blessing; Gabor and Sandra were on hand to capture the ensuing moments; providing the couple with beautiful documentation of their special day.

We absolutely adore the couple portraits taken in the woods; Lidia’s flower crown and bouquet of wildflowers providing a pretty colour pop against the greenery of the surroundings, and Edward’s suit blending perfectly.

You can feel just how fun-loving and in love this couple are; unafraid to do their wedding their way and determined to enjoy it every step of the way, from the planning stages to the moment the sun set on their special, personal and nature-embracing day.

Wild Love at Deception Pass

Big love for this shoot, set amongst the landscape of Deception Pass State Park.

Big love for this Washington shoot, set amongst the gorgeous landscape of Deception Pass State Park. We reached out to Tatiana of Rosemary & Pine photography after seeing some beautiful shots from the shoot floating about on Insta. We instantly wanted to showcase it in all its wild and natural beauty.

There are so many things we love about this concept…from the surroundings, to the styling. The palette is so delicate set against the raw of the wilderness, with pops of peach and pink, and flashes of brighter reds and orange. It is, in a word, dreamy.

We also love that real bride Karaline left her beaut vintage glasses on. We love a strong glasses look.

Catching up with Tatiana, the photographer, I wanted to understand more about what the day entailed…

“It was such a romantic day to venture out with Robert and Karaline as our models. Karaline wore a dress by Free People that she actually wore at her wedding reception, which her and Robert celebrated just the year before!

So many amazing vendors played a key role in making this day as amazing and beautiful as it was. Al & Bloom created such beautiful floral pieces that complemented 3Eleven Event’s styling so well that I almost couldn’t get over how romantic and beachy the whole tablescape felt. Some of my favourite items used for styling were the beautiful brass candlesticks that brought so much romanticism and dimension to the tablescape. Al & Bloom’s cascading florals don’t fall fair behind though!”

Sometimes a pared back styled shoot makes for the most impactful. A simple but beautifully constructed tablescape, a beautiful stationery flatlay and the cake styled to perfection. And then a programme of stunning couple shots.

That’s exactly what this team did. And nailed it.

“I loved how down to earth, romantic, and adventurous this entire day was. Elegance was intertwined through bits and pieces of the day, but still, it included so much texture and a touch of boho that made such a good connection to the location.” Tatiana

The shoot location is so idyllic…we wish we could travel to all the amazing places our submissions come from. But we are especially loving the contrast between the golden grades, the sandy ground and the beautiful evergreens in the background. Such a gorgeous representation of nature.

And despite it being a cold day, we can feel the warmth between this sweet newlywed couple…

“I loved shooting with Robert and Karaline as newlyweds because their love for one another said it all. It feels so good when almost every aspect of a shoot comes together so flawlessly from the connection your couple has to vendor styles jiving better than you could dream of” Tatiana

From the sumptuous cake finished with edible gold leaf, to the rosy tones of the stunning stationery suite, each and every supplier captured the vibe and delivered such an array of incredible pieces to make this whole shoot run like a dream.

One of our favourite aspects of this shoot is the fashion. The dress worn by Karaline, by the amazing Free People, is so beautifully bohemian and effortless…the scooped back, the winged sleeves…and not forgetting the button detailing! We lovvvvve that she chose to wear sandals as opposed to the typical bridal heel. Robert, incredibly dapper in his dark grey suit, chose the perfect brown shoes to complement the surrounding landscape.

And seriously, how can we forget that bouquet. So beautiful in its abundance, and perfectly rich and tonal.

When asked about how the shoot went, Tatiana explains…

“I can’t say that I felt there were many challenges during this day. Everything, even the weather, felt so perfectly chosen that I could not have asked for a better creative experience.” Tatiana

Well, you can’t get much better than that, can you…

Well done to a fabulous team!

We’re Wildly In Love, Regardless…

Inclusive, diverse shoot showcasing four real couples and exquisite styling.

It feels very poignant to be posting this beautiful shoot. Each and every single day, across the world, people are struggling to live their lives in peace and harmony. There is a struggle occurring in every corner of this beautiful earth. Whether it be amongst people of colour or within the LGBTQ community, with those suffering with disabilities or those who don’t fit our outdated beauty standards; every day, people are fighting for the simplest of rights. The struggles are prevalent, real and strong.

Indeed, within the wedding industry, there is a huge disconnect. A disconnect between the typical bridal beauty standard which is quite literally everywhere in wedding media, and what actual, real live couples look like.

Here at Wed in The Wild, we show no prejudice. We want to show real people that they are catered for. We want to showcase diverse and inclusive weddings. Not just to tick a box to say, “yep, that’s covered’ but because real people need to feel inspired by people and models who don’t just appeal to one kind of bride.

When Amber from our beloved Rock & Stone Weddings got in touch this week, following the UK Bride fiasco, we knew we had to showcase this amazing display which celebrates diversity and showcases inclusivity. Amber explains the premise of the shoot:

“It all started back in April when I discovered that a local registry we’d paid to join, who claimed to help link people looking for a unique, modern and creative wedding, with vendors who match that aesthetic, had some dubious views about working with the LGBTQ+ community. In their words ‘we have members who choose not to and we completely respect that’. Not wanting to associate with a group who felt it was ok to respect that, I immediately left the directory and speaking about the experience on Instagram opened up a valuable discussion. Not just about the treatment of the LGBTQ+ community in the wedding industry, but also anyone who isn’t white and a size 0 with long flowing locks! It seemed that actually, there were a whole lot of people feeling frustrated about a lack of representation. So many photographers said that they wanted to be able to show more diversity in their portfolios but they just didn’t have a very diverse client base contacting them.” Amber

Shootout_205

Shootout_376

Amber knew a lot of photographers and vendors who wanted to showcase diversity in their portfolios and so she began planning a mass shootout. She wanted to bring together an epic and beautiful shoot which would allow photographers to come and capture tonnes of great content in order to diversify their portfolio and help them attract more of their ideal clients.

When Amber got in touch, we squealed. We had seen a couple of the images from the shootout floating around on social media, but hadn’t connected that it was a large-scale project with the four sets of beautiful couples. It was perfect timing, as we had been speaking out a lot on out Instagram about diversity and inclusivity in the wedding industry.

Shootout_330

Ambers’ concept for the shoot was based on the Mediterranean; four distinct areas that all played homage to different areas of the Med, which were all cohesive enough to work together…each area and palette feeling like an evolution of the one before.

The shootout was attended by multiple photographers but the images you see here were captured by one of our absolute faves, Kendra K. Kendra has an amazing eye and creates beautiful, flowing magic with her style of shooting. The perfect choice for this romantic and multi-faceted project.

All that was missing, in Amber’s eyes, was a male/male couple…”we really wanted to find a male couple too but just no volunteers“. So if you’re reading this and either are, or know someone that might be interested in the future, then feel free to contact Amber if you are based in the states!

We’re absolutely bowled over by the creativity and romantic elegance of this beautiful shootout. From the styling of the couples, all paying homage to their personalities, to the abundance of gorgeous florals, decor and venue styling. We love the transition from the beginning of the shoot…the step up in colour and vibrancy as the shoot takes shape, and the sheer magic in the photography.

What an amazing concept and with a heartfelt, authentic meaning behind it. We hope that the incredible work of Amber, Kendra and the rest of the team gives every day people who are planning their weddings the courage and the assurance that there is change afoot and there are vendors out there who respect and want to work with all couples regardless of their gender, size, age, sexuality, race or religion.

Real Wedding: Rebecca & Michael

Don’t let this summer wedding fool you, it’s full of festive vibes…

It might be a summer wedding we’re showcasing today but there are so many beautiful festive vibes at work here…from the beautiful berry purple of the bridesmaid dresses to the stunning festoon lighting at the venue.

We love Rebecca Carpenter‘s work, so when she got in touch with Rebecca and Michael’s big day, we literally bit her hand off. Rebecca’s work is so honest and natural; her effervescent personality is intrinsic to how she gets the best out of her couples and we can see just how much of a good time they have working with her. And Rebecca and Michael were no exception….

“They were so warm and friendly from the moment they booked; we kept in touch via e-mail and whatsapp! When I showed up on their day it felt like I was meeting an old friend when I met Rebecca. Her family and bridesmaids were so welcoming, fun and positive to be around.” Rebecca

As you will see from this real wedding, Rebecca is great at capturing both the big picture and the smaller details; from the couples chosen fragrances and stationery, to little details on the wedding breakfast tables. It’s the little things couples often forget, and so this is a really important part of wedding photography.

You may also recognise the Royal Mail ‘something for you’ notecard which went a little Instagram viral when Rebecca posted it onto her grid. Like we said…it’s the little details that make a wedding day truly complete.

When thinking back to this beautiful real wedding, Rebecca remembers if being one that really stuck out for her in 2018…

“I know this sounds like a cliche but the whole day was just a photographers dream. I loved it all. The weather was incredible, the bride and groom were madly in love, their little girl Bluebell was present, they had the most stunning flowers, there were the beautiful and hilarious bridesmaids, and of course, there was the loveliest church ceremony.” Rebecca

This couple really did cover all bases with their wedding planning…every aspect of their day was detailed and tailored to their life and their loves…from food and drink, to decor and even the games that they played during the wedding breakfast…

“Rebecca and Michael thought of everything – The Mr and Mrs Game led by the Bride’s brother was created so that all the guests were involved and were able to interact. There were details the bride and groom really thought hard about, such as the strawberries and cream stand, pimp your processco stand, a harpist and a fabulous cheese tower.” Rebecca

We love the table plan…a whimsical fairytale/literary plethora of the couples favourite stories, and each table was themed around the table plan. We also love all the little details around the barn venue, from the festoon lighting, the little paper lanterns and the photo wall showcasing the couples time together.

When it came to photography, Rebecca had a blast with the couple and their guests.

“I had so many ideas for photographs that day and sometimes you do get resistance from people. However, Rebecca and Michael, her bridesmaids and the wedding guests in general were down for anything and everything! From setting off confetti canons during bridal prep, to jumping fences and going into a field for celebratory photos are some of my favourite moments of that day.” Rebecca

When it came to challenges on the day, Rebecca explained that the curse of the sharp sunlight struck…every photographers nightmare…

“I think the biggest challenge that day was that the sun was scorching which never really makes for the best photos. Eyes squinting and harsh shadows never make for the prettiest of photos, so I decided to hold off doing the couple portraits until later in the day when the light had settled. It was a bit of a gamble when a wedding is busy and flowing, but I explained to the couple that for the best results we wait until then and I’m so glad they trusted me!” Rebecca

And so are we, because the couple shots and celebratory bridesmaid/bridal portraits are just to die for! Well done Rebecca, and huge congrats to the beautiful Rebecca and Michael.

Real Wedding: Manny & Britt

This real wedding is everything elopement should be; cosy, intimate and full of love.

When the amazing Kortni Steltz, of Kortni Maria, got in touch with this elopement, our heads nearly popped off with complete and utter excitement. It’s everything an elopement should be; cosy, intimate, full of love and affection, and of course, those tiny details which make your heart sing.

Manny and Britt are a couple from Brooklyn, New York, and have been together for about 10 years. Never a fan of big weddings, they decided to elope to the Catskills in upstate New York. Britt had followed Kortni on Instagram and loved her style of photography. After their engagement shoot in Central Park with Kortni, Britt and Manny chose her to capture their November elopement.

“After their engagement session I knew that their elopement was going to be my favorite. Their love was so pure and real, and I knew that they were going to show that on their big day. Britt and I kept in touch though text and Instagram message until their elopement. We bonded over choosing pretty wedding details, and our mutual love of the podcast “My Favourite Murder”” Kortni

Manny & Britt chose a secluded cabin in the Catskills, upstate New York, for their elopement…and boy are we glad they did. Such a sweet little house, with some perfect nooks and crannies. Kortni was able to capture some gorgeous shots of the couple on the porch in the late morning, alongside some chill out shots of them in the bedroom and kitchen…all just adding a little more wedding day flavour to this  unique day.

“I loved how slow we moved, like it didn’t feel all rushed like some bigger weddings can feel.” Kortni
