Real Wedding: Aimee & Melba

Aimee and Melba’s elopement is just about everything we love…because, dogs.

Today’s real wedding comes all the way from the states. Submitted by the gorgeous Natasha Shipiro, Aimee and Melba’s elopement is just about everything we love…oodles of personal touches, dogs, family and friends, arms and hearts full of love, dogs, outdoor fun and more dogs.

Aimee and Melba decided to elope for their wedding day in a beautiful farmhouse in Cold Spring, NY. Pretty much every element imaginable was put together by friends and family. Melba’s sister made the beautiful flower arrangements, their friend Adam made a cake to be shared with friends, and they even made their own invitations. With their dogs as their bridal party and their closest friends around them, they had a weekend extravaganza of good homemade food, good wine, and lots of lounging in the hot tub.

Now, what could be more perfect than that? Get ready for all the feels…

Now if you haven’t heard of Natasha, or seen her work, get on it. She’s a true sweetheart, and in her own words, she’s a dog petting, donut eating, outdoorsy wedding photographer. Natasha and her partner live and work part-time out of their 1977 Toyota Chinook camper, hitting the road when they can…and they are always on the hunt for the best tacos around.

Uhm…can we come live with you?

When Natasha got in touch with Aimee & Melba’s wedding, we knew there would be no way we’d say no, and after Natasha had explained more about them and their big day, we were hooked!

“Aimee, Melba and I had a really special bond right from the start. I had known Aimee since I was in high school, and when they asked me to photograph their elopement I just about cried. They are two really special people that have so much warmth and love in their hearts. Moms to a huge family of critters, they take in all sorts of 4 legged creatures in need and right now have 4 senior dogs, 1 cat, and even had a deaf ferret named Blanche at one point!” Natasha

What we love most about this lovely couples big day is their dogs…only joking (but they are seriously cute, right?)! In all honesty, what we love is the raw emotion, the happy tears and the long, lingering hugs. We love that the couple were surrounded by their nearest and dearest in the most beautiful location, a wooded area in the Hudson Valley.

“Right from the very beginning they knew that they wanted their day to be just for them. They decided to elope in the woods of a quaint Airbnb in the Hudson Valley, with only their closest friends waiting at the farmhouse nearby. They said their vows in the company of only each other, their dogs, and myself, with their best friend to officiate. Two of their pups were their ring bearer and flower girl. With vows filled with about 100 references from The Office, lots of silly reminders of their favorite things about each other, and endless dog hair, by the time their ceremony was over all of us were in tears over just how touching it all was.” Natasha

Sounds so beautiful and personal.

In a world where love and respect isn’t always the order of the day, this beautiful elopement warms our hearts; it’s important to remember and support love it all its beautiful forms. Love is taking care of each other, respecting each other, nurturing each other and ultimately being there for one another through all of life’s hurdles. We think it’s important to remember just how profound and life-altering love can be. And as Natasha explains…

“Love means knowing that you’ve found your person. Having that knowing, a deep knowing, that you’ve found home.”

All hail love.

Congratulations to Aimee, Melba and all of your fur babies!
